existencialismo. Estudió teología en la Universidad de Copenhague. Es recordado por su crítica de la filosofía racional sistemática, particularmente del hegelianismo, sobre la base de que la vida real no puede quedar contenida dentro de un sistema conceptual abstracto. Desde esta posición, intentó una consideración adecuada de la fe y, por consiguiente, de la religión, específicamente del cristianismo. Sus obras comprenden

Temor y temblor (1843) y
La enfermedad mortal (1849). En sus últimos años, atacó insistentemente a la iglesia organizada; agotado por el esfuerzo, murió a los 42 años. Su obra influyó enormemente en los filósofos y teólogos continentales del s. XX, entre ellos Karl Barth, Karl Jaspers,
Martin Heidegger y Martin Buber.
